Corrections
We correct mistakes openly. When an article is corrected, a dated note is added to the article itself and the correction appears in the log below. We never silently change facts in a published story.
How to report an error
Use the “Report an error” link at the end of any article, or write to us through the contact page. Please include the article link, what you think is wrong and, if you can, a source that shows the correct information.
What happens next
- We aim to respond within 48 hours.
- If the article is wrong, we fix it, add a dated correction note to the article and list it here.
- If a story cannot be fixed (for example, if its main claim turns out to be false), we retract it: it is removed from search engines, and the reason is recorded here.
- Small fixes that don’t change the meaning (a typo, a broken link) may be made without a note.
Our standards for sourcing and accuracy are described in the editorial policy.
